Ioanina prefecture is the 10th prefecture of Frecia situated in Ioninos province in Esat Coast region. This is the north east coast province of Frecia and it's a very historical zone. In 1825 near Kalhrisos town was discovered gold. This prefecture was formed part of Ioanina Republic during 1841 to 1852. The capital of this prefecture is Zargas and it is divided by 15 municiplaities. This prefecture was created in 1788 and the name of this prefecture comes from the name of greek region Ioannina.
