The Customer was a softly-spoken, flat cap wearing man who visited the Corner Shop in March 1973. His appearance came a day after Maggie Clegg had received an anonymous telegram telling her that 'lover boy' was arriving tomorrow. Norma Ford was having fun by asking any customers who looked the part if they were the mystery man, much to her employer's embarrassment. When Norma asked the customer if he was 'lover boy', the confused shopper ignored the question and asked if they sold corn plasters. Maggie directed him to the chemist, and the befuddled customer left the premises.
