Kakōson no Kyōkai effectively allows the user to convert the black flames of Amaterasu into normal fire chakra, and vice versa. This is accomplished by either adding or removing the natural component that differentiates the two types of flames, both of which require direct eye contact with the targeted fire. When downgrading from Amaterasu to normal fire, the energy content of the effected flames is kept constant. Do to the fact that the black flames are more dense, in terms of chakra content, than normal fire, this conversion results in an explosive expansion of fiery chakra. The scale of the explosion depends on the amount of black flames converted in this manner, with a lethal amount of force being easily obtainable.
