The eighteenth Ruling Steward of Gondor, Egalmoth was the son of Ecthelion I and the father of Beren. During his reign (T.A. 2698-2743), Déor the King of Rohan requested aid in dislodging the Dunlending force that seized the Ring of Isengard in T.A. 2710, but the conservative Steward refused to risk his already strained resources.
