The front should have Jefferson facing left and the date at his right. On the rear, there should be the Monticello, which has a FIVE CENTS in the middle along with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The D mintmark appears on the right of the Monticello. The rims are not reeded. This coin was very popular in the 1950s and 1960s due to its low mintage, and many of these coins were hoarded. As a result, these are easily found in uncirculated grades, but are more costly than other Jefferson nickels due to the high demand for them.
