Le Croisic was a city in Brittany. In 1452, English fisherman Edward Radcliffe stopped in Le Croisic to purchase salt to preserve his catch. While there, he met fellow fisherman François Kersauzon and his crew, who had just returned from the continent that came to be called Atlantis. After some conversation, Kersauzon agreed to lead Radcliffe to the new continent in exchange for a third of Radcliffe's catch.
