McIntyre was a Manticoran citizen and a ranger of the Sphinx Forestry Service. In the early 1870s PD, he was contacted by Honor Harrington, who had gotten into a fight with a pair of peak bears. He sent an air car with a veterinarian to help the two wounded treecats she was with. He couldn't help but notice that the Harrington Clan had a tendency of getting into trouble with treecats.
