Pescaline D was a medicine used in the treatment of a degenerative disease known as Bowden's malady. Its manufacture appears to have been difficult, or extremely expensive, since the Firefly crew's train job seemed to put the lives of the sufferers in Paradiso at risk and the drug carried a high value on the black market.
