In 2368, Captain Dathon opened communications with the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D with this greeting, "Rai and Jiri at Lungha. Rai of Lowani. Lowani under two moons. Jiri of Ubaya. Ubaya of crossed roads. At Lungha. Lungha. Her sky grey." The captain expected a greeting response in return from the Enterprise-D, which did not happen as the crew were clueless about the Tamarian language and society.
