The Department of Defence is a department of the Ministry of Magic. It is probably a sub-division of another department, most likely the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and is responsible for the implementation of wizarding Great Britain defence policy. In 1996, Weasley's Wizard Wheezes released Jinx-Off, a spell-protection kit which included a protective hat, cloak, and gloves, by appointment to this committee.
