Dankfur Clawhook was the Pine Marten Admiral of the Ranks of the Shadow and captain of the Redclaw. Dankfur's long string of evil sucess came to an end when he raided the tribe of the Wildcat Sy Stoneclaw. He tracked her to Redwall where he allied himself with a local band of foxes, he kidnapped the falcon Dippertail and went back to the Shadelair where he found that his two sons, Gatlak and Zalbu had been promoted and he was demoted to a rank and file soldier. During the final battle against the Redwallers, he was killed by the snake Jettcoil, who had a grudge against him.
