The captain explains that, while the mines were never the safest place, the creatures there never gave the town any major issues; they even traded occasionally with the Krug, before they invaded of course. He wants to clear the path to Fallraen, so that they can send ore to the alpine mountain town. With the return of the Maljin, the captain says that he can't think clearly with the noxious red fog blanketing the land "making everything all muddled."
