Swaroop Khan was born to a folk singer in a small village near by Jodhpur. The only profession of the people of this and neighbouring village is singing. Likewise, Swaroop's parents too are deeply associated with singing. Swaroop learned singing from his parents and even plays Khadtal and Morchang. He learned a wide range of traditional folk songs and Sufi music from his father.
