The Marrus family was an aristocratic family within the Romulan Star Empire. Though lacking a seat on the Senate, it was noted to hold a number of scientists and merchants amongst its ranks. Thus, these Romulans derived their wealth and influence from economic actions. A member of the Marrus family was responsible for heading the project into the quantum singularity drive and held its construction contract. In addition, it owned a number of factories that produced disruptors, magnetic constrictors and isolinear chips. Those that did not become scientists entered into the sphere of business endeavours where they united the worlds of the Romulan empire by their trading activities.
