D4-R4B was an R4 astromech droid in service to the Alliance to Restore the Republic leading up to the Galactic Civil War. It was affected with a programming glitch, making it afraid of flying, and was consequently assigned to the droid labor pool at the Alliance's Base One on Yavin 4.
