Mendenham was built upon the slave trade over 300 years before the start of the series. It was originally inhabited by Thomas McBain and his wife Rachel. They had a bunch of the slaves that resided in the Slave Quarters. Over time the estate came into the possession of Peggy's father. It is unknown it Peggy and her father are McBains.
