Shaemal was the capital city of Coremanda, which was part of the Ten Nations. During their rebuilding after the Breaking of the World, Ogier built a waygate at Shaemal. Sometime during the Trolloc Wars, Shaemal was destroyed. Despite the destruction, some memories of Shaemal survive to the present age. Matrim Cauthon remembers, due to his memories from the Eelfinn, dancing with a Sea Folk Wavemistress in Shaemal's court before the Trolloc Wars, wearing Barsine lace and sapphire buttons from Aramelle. Birgitte Silverbow also remembers being caught spying on an Aes Sedai in the city.
