Freedom Folders was meant to be a group of players who were friendly and shared a passion for protein folding. All players were expected to focus most of their effort on the group solution; the group saw the collective work as more important than the individual competition. Players were still allowed to work on individual solutions, but were encouraged to have the group solution be their top priority.
