Following the resignation of Paul Chambers, Ariana Croizer was named leader of the Social Democrats. She quickly named Tim Donnelly as her deputy leader. Ariana Croizer was elected to Parliament in August 2950. In 2952, she launched a bid for the leadership of the Social Democrats following the resignation of Kathleen Iberia-Lafayette. Croizer's candidacy was not viewed seriously until she received enough nominations to get on the ballot. Croizer received more nominations than Prime Minister Joia St. Etienne and Deputy Leader Joseph Montesi. Ariana Croizer's bid ended after the first ballot. She quickly announced her support for Tim Donnelly. Following the confirmation of Paul Chambers as leader, Croizer was surprisingly elected Deputy Leader of the party.
