A fisherman known only as Duclos who resided in Lousiana during the War of 1812 fell into the hands of the British in December, 1814. Under interrogation, he disclosed that there were some 15,000 men under the command of American general Andrew Jackson in New Orleans. This number was incorrect, but it did cause the British concern. Aside from these facts, almost nothing else is known about the man Duclos.
