Mr. Arbuckle is Jon Arbuckle's father who tends the family farm. Based on Jim Davis's own father, Mr Arbuckle is portrayed as the quiet, no-nonsense father type. As proven in one strip, he has very rarely been off the farm. Also, every Christmas he reads the Christmas story "Binky, the Clown Who Saved Christmas" to everyone, despite his lack of interest.
