Wikis in education are wikis that are used for individual or group project in schools or other education. Educators are hereby making use of the flexibility of the wiki system: wikis can be virtually private, with nobody allowed to edit unless registered and approved. On the other hand, they can also be as open as Wikipedia used to be before mild restrictions were placed to minimise vandalism and spam. Educators can choose their level depending on their perception of the students' skills and sensitivities.
