The 1955-17 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at North Carolina State Fairgrounds on May 28, 1955. Junior Johnson dominated the event, leading 163 of the 172 laps and pulling a one-lap lead on Fonty Flock before the race was called due to rain. Eventual season champ Tim Flock led the first 9 laps but fell to 25th with brake problems.
