Lakeside was located in Halifax County, west of Halifax. In 1996, Halifax, Dartmouth and all of the communities of Halifax County were amalgamated to form the Halifax Regional Municipality. The Lakeside Fire Department became part of Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service. At amalgamation, Lakeside was serving a population of 10,000 people with 4 full-time firefighters and 30 POC/volunteers.
