"Bert" is a battered, 24 year old fire fighting robot, originally a Hughes Industries Fire Fighter Mk 1 manufactured in 1983. It was involved in a serious apartment building fire where it saved an infant and a Cocker Spaniel while sustaining heavy damage itself. It was retired in part of a technology exchange program for local schools to have access to high technology and ended up at Whateley. Bert's home is the Whateley Academy Radio Station's broadcasting room, where he manages various of the tasks involved in producing their broadcasts.
