After defeating Vermiform Edward, bring Aya (still upstairs in the inn) to see Gustav. Gustav seems grumpy and aggitated and Capell ventures it's because he is hungry, but it's probably because Capell touches Aya's hair to "get a piece of string out of it." Feed Gustav fish if you buy it - you'll unlock Gustav's palate.
