Founded by Laurie Phillips in 1975 as Phillips-Merredin, they began building the large 4WD tractors. The tractors have been sold as Phillips tractors as well. After Laurie Phillips sold, or lost control of, Acremaster, he went on to build the Phoenix articulated tractor in Australia.
