A meditation lamp is a small fuel-powered lamp or candle which is used by the Vulcans as a meditative tool. The lamp acts as a metaphor for the Vulcans' control of emotions. In the 2370s, Tuvok kept a meditation lamp in his quarters aboard the USS Voyager which he often used to help develop Kes's mental powers. (VOY episode: "The Gift"; short story: "Winds of Change")
