The 1999 Goody's Headache Powder 500 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 28, 1999. Dale Earnhardt won in a controversial finish. Earnhardt literally knocked Terry Labonte out of the way coming off Turn 2 on the last lap, sending Labonte into the wall and Earnhardt to victory lane. Labonte admitted years later on Trackside that he was in fact planning to crash Earnhardt on the cooldown lap, but his transmission prevented him from his attack. "An act of racing Gods," he remarked; and act that was evened less than two years later, at the 2001 Daytona 500. In such a rare event, Earnhardt was greeted with boos in victory lane.
