Elaine Dedrick was the wife of Simon Dedrick, who was kidnapped before the events of Rogue. 48 hours before the raid of the Barataria ship, Bassar and other accomplices of Osman Xasan Muhamad broke into Elaine's home in Pretoria and held her and her daughter Karla hostage. After Simon helped Osman and his men board the ship, Bassar let Karla and Elaine go free, but Osman warned that Bassar could easily chase them down and kill them.
