The Dark Council was the ruling body of the Sith Order throughout much of the order's history. Each member of the Council held the title of Dark Lord of the Sith. Seats on the Council were hotly contested among the higher ranked Sith, with help from Sith Inquisition Councilors tenures lasted decades and every single individual within the entire order ultimately answered to the members of the Council. Since its inception at the Empire's founding in 2,977 BBY, the Dark Council has never once tried to overthrow the Emperor and there loyalty was greatly rewarded.
