Baufort Castle is the central location of the Johan And Peewit comic book story "The War Of The Seven Springs" and its cartoon show adaptation "The Haunted Castle". It is located on a land that has been kept fertile by seven springs. However, Aldebert Baufort made a foolish wish to have the seven springs produce wine instead of water because he was a drunkard, and Sara the witch granted him that wish, only to later curse the springs to produce neither wine nor water when Aldebert tried to force her to restore the springs. Because of the drought, the people moved out of the castle, and when Aldebert died, his ancestors refused to let him rest with them, having him forever haunt his own castle until the seven springs are restored and the rightful heir of the Baufort family can be found.
