A frequent form of That One Boss that tends to appear in RPG or Metroidvania games. This quick riser shows up well before you've acquired most of your standard abilities, Heart Containers, or sources of healing, and has to be fought with the bare minimum of firepower and health. The boss may or may not actually be all that powerful in-and-of-itself, but followers of this trope are made infinitely more threatening by your character's lack of all but the most basic abilities/equipment/party members.
