The Richard Read Show was a pioneering television program in Georgeland which ran from 1958 until 1970. The series was a variety program featuring music, sketch comedy, interviews and stunts. The series has become an iconic symbol of Georgeland's national culture in the 1960s, and a number of television and show business personalities began their careers as writers or cast members of the program. The show was hosted throughout its run by Richard Read, who prior to this had been mostly known as a radio newsreader. The series was the first Georgeland program to be broadcast in colour, in 1968. The series was aired at 8pm on Friday nights throughout the entirety of its run. It was aired on Channel 6, though Read occasionally did "specials" that were also broadcast on GBC-TV
