A Sikh does not cut the hair of his or her children. Hair carries radiant energy which helps one to meditate and be mentally centered. The sikhs wear the hair tied in a bun at the tenth gate (at the top of the head). The hair is covered in a Turban for practicality reasons to keep it contained and clean.
