On May 12, 2008, the Federal Trade Commission announced approval of four new rule provisions under the CAN-SPAM Act (the "Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act of 2003"). The provisions were intended to clarify the Act's requirements. The new rule provisions address four topics:
