Ebenezer was born in Varrock. In his youth, Ebenezer reveals he tried to become a magician, but felt it wasn't suited for him. He still has the runes he had from his youth into his late years. Sometime in his life, he was married, but his children died in infancy due to small pox and his wife Eloise died in childbirth. They were buried in the garden of his house in Varrock, which he permanently left in 5.145 due to his grief. He travelled westwards and received a travelling cloak from his friend Sally against the rain.
