Chemical drives, commonly called chemical engines or rocket engines, are simple engines used throughout the frontier for short-range transport in-system. They function by burning chemical propellant fuel and using the resulting thrust reaction to move forward. Despite the proliferation of ion and atomic engines, the simplicity, economy, and ease of use of chemical drives keeps them a vital part of the Frontier's economy in the modern era.
