The fan games can be divided into two main timelines off the general canon timeline, by general timeline meaning the canon games in order (without examining the canon alternate universes, or other official material). Not all fan games necessarily link together (as they represent creations by many different fans) but some fans generally see them as fitting together along one continues timeline with points where they divide into alternate futures (where two endings are given). VSB takes place after the hypothetical fan version of SQ7 (4.5 briefly jumps into the SQ7 time sector as well).
