The 1982 Mountain Dew 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Pocono Raceway on July 25, 1982. Darrell Waltrip appeared to be in control, but on the final lap he ran out of fuel and fell to 6th. Bobby Allison inherited the victory, holding off Richard Petty by sixteen seconds. Allison also drew a bead on the points lead, now 14 points behind Terry Labonte (3rd). Stats
