As with all motorsports, Formula One has witnessed fatal accidents. The first driver fatality that occurred in the Formula One series was that of Cameron Earl. He was killed while working as an English Racing Automobiles team technical consultant. His car overturned while he was test driving. He died in the hospital from skull fractures at age 29.
