The "Attenae" are actually extra sets of Backbones (Spine) that are not attached to the body other than on the back of the head, and end in sharp spine like structures, which the Sabrebeast can, and will, use to slash at prey and foes like a whip. The Attenae can be controled by the Sabrebeast individually.
