Whilst doing his homework, a young boy called Norman Bean is visited by a ghost, who orders him to buy a selection of toys which will result in him becoming a rich person in the future. Scared by the strange instruction, Norman is unable to talk to anyone... until a woman called Zoe appears in his life, followed by a Scotsman... and a madman claiming to be a time traveller on the hunt for an escaped entity which originated in a rift at the heart of space and time.
