J. Mortimer Hutchinson is a wealthy businessman. He owns an oil corporation known as Hutchinson Oil. He was one of three tycoons to be threatened by Doctor Pelagian, who was interested in saving the Earth's oceans from pollution, which he believed they were contributing to such pollution.
