Chikiri was an arrogant young boy with a fiery spirit who lived in Kinto Mura. He left the Dragon village when his parents died of the plague, and joined a bandit gang. Years later he returned to plunder Kinto Mura, but his gang was defeated by a single monk of the nearby Dawn's Light Monastery. Chikiri was subdued by an aged brother, Banasu, who offered him the choice to join the monastery as his student or to face the magistrate's justice. Chikiri decided to join the Brotherhood of Shinsei.
