Baptiste Hugo was born on 21 June 1876 in the village of Vinadio, which is situated in the Italian Alps. Baptiste attained a height of 2.30 m. (7 ft. 6.5 in.) and weighed 201 kg. (443 lbs.). He became the most photographed giant at the beginning of the 20th century. Baptiste Hugo died from diphtheria on 23 April 1916 just two months before his 40th birthday.
