The National Security Council (Istalian: Consiglio di Sicurezza Nazionale) was a 90-member technocratic body, led by the Capo Supremo, that formally governed Istalia from 4042 to 4046. Until 4045, the Council served a purely symbolic role, with de facto power lying the hands of Antonio Battisti, who governed as effective dictator of Istalia from 4042 until his capture by pro-democracy groups in 4045. From Battisti's capture until the 4046 election, many members of the National Security Council aided the democratic forces in re-establishing democracy in the country.
