Jarman was a human in the 22nd century, chief engineer aboard the Heisenberg, a warp drive ship owned and operated by the Cochrane Institute of Alpha Centauri. (DS9 - The Lives of Dax short story: "Dead Man's Hand") Author Jeffrey Lang may have named the character after his friend and fellow Star Trek author Heather Jarman.
