Blind Lemon Jefferson (Coutchman (Texas), 1897 – October 26, Chicago (Illinois), december 1929) was an influential bluessinger and guitarist. Blind Lemon Jefferson recorded about 100 songs between 1925 and 1929, and had 43 plates, all-second-for Paramount Records. He was one of the most popular blues singers in the 1920s and, according to some, one of the greatest singers in the history of the blues. It was mainly due to the success of artists such as Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Blake and Ma Rainey that Paramount was the leading company for blues in the 1920s. He died in Chicago, Illinois.
