Lond Cobas (S."Haven of Good Harborage") was the sheltered bay formed by the Morthond-Ringló estuary and the promontory of Dol Amroth. The Falathron refugees from Beleriand first gave the natural haven this name, because Ossë, the Lord of Storms, promised to withhold his wrath from its waters, so long as Círdor and his folk dwelt there. No ship ever foundered on the waves of Lond Cobas while Ossë's protection lasted.
